ポールは１９７２年１月３０日日曜日にデリーで血の日曜日事件が勃発すると、１日で曲をつくりレコーディング。２月２５日に緊急発売した。イギリスでは放送禁止、発売禁止になるも、アイルランドではヒットし１位を記録した。ポールには珍しいプロテストソングなので、歌詞も軽く表面的であるが、ちょっとシニカルに皮肉ったところもある。
